All AIRE boats are made in Meridian, Idaho, USA. Each raft, cataraft, kayak and SUP are manufactured to live up to the standards of whitewater enthusiasts, which includes our team at AIRE. We build boats, package boats, sell boats, ship boats out and at the end of the day, we get out on the water and go boating. This is our passion!

Joe Matuska received his first kayak paddle and boat in 1973 as a graduation gift. After swimming several times during his first outing with them, he came home with a broken paddle and a broken boat. Figuring that someone with a degree in Medical Microbiology should be able to fix a broken paddle and boat, he went to work on them. The next thing he knew, he had a new hobby which lead to a lengthy career in the paddle sport industry. In 1991, Joe started Aqua-Bound in Surrey, British, Columbia. The company manufactured paddles for whitewater, touring, and recreational kayaking as well as canoeing, and quickly became the number one producer of plastic-bladed kayak paddles. Aqua-Bound was also the first to introduce gas-assist molded paddle blades. Joe spent a large amount of his time working the phones and growing his business by providing excellent customer service. In late 2008, Branches LLC purchased Aqua-Bound Technologies from Joe and his partners and moved the company to Osceola, WI USA. The paddles are now built right in our factory. We have a standard product line that includes inflatable boats, dry bags, and waterproof self-inflating mattresses. We maintain a customer base of whitewater river outfitters, and specialty paddle sports retail dealers. We also sell our products over the Internet. We have an industrial product line that deals with the Oil and Gas, Medical, lift bags, water line inspections, as well as industrial applications of all of our recreational products, for instance, Catarafts for Science. Other activities include prototype development, and manufacture of components for other products. In this way, we have built components for amusement rides, scuba divers, sail boat racing, water exercise equipment, climbing gear, medical gear primarily for patient simulators, and emergency spill containments for the oil and gas industry as well as other items. We were also the first to come up with a way to effectively repair cross-link polyethylene kayaks and canoes, and were the first to produce a product called the Gamov bag in 1989. This bag saves mountain Climbers from altitude sickness, and is a portable hyperbaric chamber. We also make the only all welded inflatable stand up paddle board, and we repair other companies paddle boards. We have been involved in NASA commercial crew program building articles for recovery systems.

Watershed was founded in 1995 with a singular mission: build waterproof bags in the USA that we, as adventurers, could trust to keep our most cherished possessions dry under any conditions. The Watershed bag closure system has been tested by the US Navy to 100 meters submersion without any leakage whatsoever. Watershed bags are low maintenance, rugged, and extremely waterproof. They’re built for everything from social outings to survival situations. Our bags were immediately embraced by raft guides and whitewater kayakers. Over time, Watershed bags have gained popularity with sailors, surfers, fly fishermen, offshore fishermen, hunters, scuba divers, and oilfield workers. Watershed bags are built for serious outdoor adventurers, not for big box discount retailers. In 2000, the US Navy SEALs asked Watershed to build a custom suite of waterproof bags for military applications. Since then, we have provided a line of military-specific waterproof bags to all branches of US Special Operations as well as NATO and other allied forces on every continent. Since 1995 Watershed has remained true to our roots, continuing to manufacture all of our bags in North Carolina — even as our competitors cut corners by importing bags from overseas.
